Cell phone users now number in the billions around the world. In a recent study, it was found that about 6.9 billion individuals already have cell phones – and whilst this may be a sign of technological process, it can be a sign of danger as well. This is because cell phones are known for emitting EMFs or electromagnetic fields, and these fields and the radiation from them can enhance the risk of cell damage to the human body. As a matter of fact, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, electromagnetic radiation from cell phones is classified as a possible carcinogen.
Aside from this, EMFs can disrupt the body’s natural functions and inhibit sleep, reduce the function of the immune system, disrupt the production of hormones, and affect the process of healing. If you are concerned about cell phone radiation, there are ways to combat it, however. Here’s a list of tried and tested ways you can protect yourself and your family from cell phone radiation.
Get some distance
If you have to use your cell phone, you can at least keep your distance from it. Try not to keep it right next to your skin or body, and if you have to place a call, put your phone on speaker mode rather than holding it right next to your ear. You should also avoid keeping your cell phone in your bra if you are a woman or your cell phone on your belt or in your pocket if you are a man.
Turn it off when not needed
Although it’s tempting to leave your cell phone on the whole day, it would be better if you make it a point to turn it off when you don’t need to use it. This is simply because the cell phone will not emit any radiation when it is off.
Think about your options
Is it really necessary for you to use your cell phone to make a call? There are now other alternatives and options out there, such as Skype. Also, if you have a landline, it’s better to use it for placing a call.
Use a shield
A ‘shield’ refers to a special device which can shield you from harmful electromagnetic radiation. There are a few devices available which are specially-made and designed to block or inhibit the effects of radiation on the body and serve as sufficient cell phone radiation protection.
While cell phones will always be useful, it’s in your best interest to be mindful of how you use it and when you use it. If you want to protect yourself and your loved ones from radiation’s harmful effects, being knowledgeable and being prepared are key.
