I caught up with a member of staff from Amare Global to discuss mental wellbeing and she shared these awesome tips for how you can improve your overall mental health.
The world in which we live today asks so much from us in terms of our mental capacity especially when it comes to our ability to process information. A great way to take some time out and to increase our mental well-being then is to meditate each day. Meditation only needs to happen for around 10 or 15 minutes a day for you to feel the benefits and it is not about banishing thoughts from your mind, but rather learning to organize and deal with them.
Exercise does not just increase your physical health, it also has a huge bearing on your overall mental wellbeing and it does so in many ways. Primarily when you exercise you release chemicals in your brain called endorphins, these are feel-good chemicals which give you that buzz after a workout and they can also help increase your mental wellbeing. Exercise can also give you confidence in your body image, as well as strength and mobility, all of which can make you feel positive both physically and mentally.
There is no romance or hardcore points to be gained from not getting enough sleep and if you are not then this will be having a hugely negative effect on your overall mental wellbeing. Sleep is the time that the brain digests and princesses information from the day before and for the days ahead and if you don’t get enough quality sleep then it will cause you a lot of issues. This is why you have poor energy levels when you don’t sleep well and it is also why you struggle to focus and organize after a poor night’s sleep. Get at least 7-9 hours of high quality sleep each night and you will see a massive difference not only in performance, but also in your overall metal health.
Don’t ignore mental health issues, if you feel as though you are struggling then there are always steps you can take and people who you can talk to. We don’t have to suffer in silence any longer.
